If Tuesdays are for tacos, then the rest of the week must be reserved for burritos! A giant flour tortilla wrapped around meat, beans, veggies, and cheese–burritos just might be the world’s most perfect food. When your burrito cravings hit, check out these SLO eateries.
Chili Peppers Restaurant
This family-owned restaurant has two SLO locations, one on Broad Street and one just around the corner from our community on Foothill Boulevard. In business since 1986, they know Mexican food. Their website boasts photos of their fresh, generous portions, including giant burritos. One of their advertised specials is a burrito, chips, salsa, and soda for only $6.99. Chili Peppers does catering, and we can’t think of a better way to liven up your next event.
Taqueria Santa Cruz Express
The consensus on social media is that the lines may be long, but the wait is totally worth it. Rave reviews are given to Taqueria’s Cal Poly Burrito, which comes with your choice of meat and is covered with green sauce. If you’re craving seafood, they not only have a Shrimp Burrito, but also a Super Shrimp Burrito. The restaurant and outdoor patio are relatively small, so during busier times this Monterey Street eatery might be better suited for takeaway.
Taco De Mexico
Fans of the Santa Rosa Street restaurant love the authentic food and fast service. At first glance, Taco De Mexico’s menu may look small, but they can whip up a dozen different kinds of burritosincluding lengue (beef tongue), asada, carnitas, chicken, and bean and cheese. If you just want the fillings without the tortilla wrap, order yours as a burrito bowl. Whatever you order, be sure to wash it down with some horchata.
Luckily for our residents, some of the best burritos in SLO are located near The Academy Chorro. For more information about our community, please contact us. We’ll answer any questions you may have and set up a showing.
